This assignment was given to me as the graphic designer for Northeastern's College of Social Sciences and Humanities. The goal of the assignment was to redesign their brochure for accepted students according to the department's updated 2020 branding guidelines. It was also expected that this brochure follow a similar design system to the college's website.

The branding guidelines included three different typefaces, two main colors and a couple of accent colors, and an illustrative line pattern.

According to the branding guidelines, The typeface Real Head Pro was expected to display all of the main information. The typeface Saol Display was expected to emphasize certain words, and the typeface GT America Mono was expected to be used for information such as links and page numbers.

The color palette consisted primarily of black and white with northeastern's signature shade of red to be used sparingly as an additional pop of color.

As far as graphics go, this topographic vector pattern played an essential role in giving the branding a dynamic and fresh look while still managing to look sleek and professional. I spent a lot of time choosing the appropriate placing of the topographic pattern to ensure that it adds movement without taking away from the information being presented.

Throughout this project, I had to be mindful of making sure that my design did not compete with the information, but rather enhanced it as well as guided the reader's eye from page to page. Although it was very important for the brochure to look sophisticated, I felt that it still needed some playful and exciting qualities in order to appeal to an audience of young adults.
