INTERNATIONAL HOLOCAUST FILM FESTIVAL POSTER SERIES
October 2020

The goal of this assignment was to create a series of posters advertising the International Holocaust Film Series. Although the Holocaust was a very serious and traumatic event, I wanted my posters to place an emphasis on celebrating the life of the victims.

In order to create the images on the poster, I visited the Holocaust Memorial in Boston MA and took images. It was raining that day and the light gave the glass structure a beautiful teal tint. I then overlaid those images onto images that I took of different materials interacting with light. Some of those images included tissue paper against a window, q-tips being held against a lamp, and several tiny styrofoam balls. All of the materials I chose worked with my vision of light, remembrance, and the fragile beauty of life.

I wanted the images to appear very abstract because they were meant to represent an emotion or invoke a feeling within the viewer.

The type on this poster is very minimalistic, but I feel that it expresses the text efficiently and juxtaposes the complexity of the images well.
