The Alphabet Soup of Acoustics is a series of short animated videos I created for Acentech Incorporated's social media campaign. Acentech is an acoustic engineering consulting firm.
 
Acoustics is a topic that many people outside of the industry have a hard time understanding. They know what sound is but not how it works. At Acentech we found that this was a barrier to us getting online engagement from people outside of the acoustics and architecture industry. My goal with this animated series was to familiarize people with different common acoustic terms in a fun, simple, and endearing way.

When creating this animation, I illustrated all of the pieces in a very playful style and then used Adobe After Effects to add movement to the illustrations. I created the first half of the animation and saved it as a separate video. I also created a folder of every letter in the same illustrated style. Then, I created a second after effects file where the spoon is picking up a letter and then the definition text appears. I saved that file as a working file and when I wanted to create the next video in the series I copied it and changed the letter on the spoon and the definition text. Finally, I would combine both parts of the video and save it as a new video. Creating a template at the beginning of this process saved me a great deal of time when making new videos for this series and proved to be beneficial when my internship ended and another graphic designer took over my role. I wanted to make sure that they could continue easily making these videos even if they did not have experience with animation and After Effects.
