NO FLO TAMPON POSTERS
March 2022
For this graphic design and branding assignment, I was tasked with creating a set of advertisement posters for an imaginary brand. This was a light-hearted assignment with few guidelines, and the main goal was to experiment with different design styles, so I wanted to have fun with my designs and incorporate some of my illustration skills.
The imaginary brand I created is called NOFLO Tampons. I chose to create advertising for a tampon brand because as someone who purchases this product, I have noticed that advertisements for tampons typically fall on one of two ends of a spectrum. They are either targeted towards a younger audience with imagery that shows people playing and competing in sports and are advertised as if they are an athletic product, or the advertising is very tasteful, yet "grown-up" discrete and only focuses on the materials and functionality of the product but not the user. Few tampon advertisements depict every-day use by the average person in a casual way and show that tampons are just another item rather than being a special tool or something to hide. For my advertisement, I wanted to create a set of posters that were illustrated in a playful style with cute and slightly motivational slogans. I also wanted to depict the product just being out in the open to show that it isn't something to be ashamed of. My illustration style and typeface choices were loosely inspired by Art Deco designs from the early 1900s. Overall, I enjoy how these posters came out and I feel that they convey the casual and playful feeling that I was aiming for.
